Beef mince patties

Beef mince in any shape or form is a usual on the Iftaar table and we opened our first fast with these juicy and delicious beef mince patties. This recipe was passed down from my husband's grandma and she deep fries her patties which forms a yummy crust on the outside but we opted for the oven and passed on the extra oil. These patties are perfect as a snack or can be enjoyed with a few sides.

Serves: 2-3
Ready in: 40 minutes
Difficulty: ★

Ingredients

Patties

300g beef mince
1 medium potato, grated
1/2 large onion, finely diced
1 tbsp breadcrumbs
1 tbsp oil
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp salt
1 egg
3 green chillies, sliced
2 cloves garlic, grated
Handful of coriander, chopped

Garnish

Coriander, chopped
1/2 large onion, sliced
1 drizzle of oil

Method

Preheat oven to 170 C fan forced and line a large baking tray with foil. (See note 1)

Place all ingredients listed under 'patties' in a large bowl and mix well. Scoop the mince mixture using a tablespoon and form a meatball. Place on the baking tray and flatten using the back of a spoon.

Repeat with remaining mince mixture. Place in the oven for 35-40 minutes, turning halfway.

Meanwhile heat a small pan with oil and fry onions until slightly translucent. Set aside.

Once patties are cooked, remove from oven and garnish with coriander and fried onions. Serve while warm. Enjoy!

Notes

1. Oil spray the foil to prevent the patties from sticking.
